New in 11.4

Scalix 11.4 adds additional features and ehances performance in both SWA and Outlook clients. Some of the imporvements are:

Scalix Web Access

• Overlay Calendars - Allows the user to see multiple calendars at the same time in day, week and month views. This makes it much easier to organize events and appointments in multiple personal calendars. It also allows the user to combine personal, public and other people's calendars in a single view for easier planning and scheduling.
• Theming - The look and feel - colors, logos and fonts - of SWA can now be customized to better match corporate identity or to blend in Scalix Web Access with overall portal design in hosted architecture. In addition, Scalix now comes with a new default theme, providing for a fresh look.
• Performance - Better useability through improved load times and multiple performance optimizations
• Firefox 3 Support - SWA in Scalix 11.4 has been enhanced to work with Mozilla's latest browsers.

Scalix Proxy Folders

• WebCal and RSS/Atom - Subscribe to newsfeeds and publicly available calendar data such as national holidays, industry events listings or sports schedules.
• Public or Private folders - Feeds can be mapped to a personal folder in a user's mailbox, then taken offline or re-shared with other users. They can also be applied to a public folder for company wide available information.
• Available in all Clients - While feeds currently need to be setup by an administrator, they can be seen in all clients once established. The server will manage the feed, providing user access through Outlook, SWA, IMAP, CalDAV and more.

The Scalix CalDAV Server has been enhanced with more functionality:

• iCal Scheduling - Based on the CalDAV-Schedule draft standard, Scalix now supports appointment scheduling and access to Free/Busy information for Apple's iCal client (part of Mac OS/X 10.5 "Leopard")
• iCal Calendar Management - Allows the user to create new calendars in iCal, with calendar attributes such as color stored on the Scalix server
• Sunbird/Lightning 0.8 Support - CalDAV in Scalix 11.4 has been enhanced to work with Mozilla's latest calendaring clients.

Scalix ActiveSync 

Connect ActiveSync enabled wireless devices directly to the Scalix server without additional software needed on the device and use them for push Email and wireless calendar and contact synchronization.

• Wireless Clients of Choice - ActiveSync support is available on Windows Mobile devices as well as leading smartphones from many vendors, including Nokia, Motorola, Sony-Ericsson, Palm and Apple.
• Flexible Deployment - The wireless service can be implemented right on the Scalix server or on a separate SWA or dedicated wireless gateway server.
• Based on Microsoft Technology - The Scalix ActiveSync wireless solution is based on technology licensed from Microsoft, ensuring best compatibility and investment protection for future versions.

Scalix 11.3 builds on the strong version 11 of the Scalix platform, and offers many exciting and powerful benefits:

• MS Outlook 2007 Support - Use the Scalix MAPI connector with Outlook 2007 to provide your Premium Users with the full groupware functionality of the Scalix Server.
• Outlook Over SSL - Eliminate the need for Users to manage complex VPN connections when using MS Outlook from home or on the road. Scalix 11.3 supports secure Outlook connections with an encrypted SSL connection.
• CalDAV-Enabled - View and manage your Scalix calendar from any CalDAV enabled calendar application, including Apple iCal and Mozilla Sunbird and Lightning.
• Scalix Web Access (SWA) Performance Optimization - Enjoy increased performance of Scalix's award-winning AJAX-based Web client. SWA has also been improved to better handle additional spell checker dictionaries.
• Improved Asian Character Set Support - While Scalix already supports international, multi-byte and Asian character sets, Scalix 11.3 now provides auto-detection for character sets where the message is not tagged with correct character set information. Additionally, support for vendor-specific extensions to Japanese character sets is now provided. Furthermore, outbound message formats are now optimized for better compatibility with legacy email systems as commonly used in Japan and throughout the far east.
