This is for Nod32 Version 3. Version 2 instructions can be found here Nod32, from ESET is a standout Antivirus package. For those interested, you can read why they say they are the best here: http://www.nod32.com.au/ It is one of the few anti-virus programs that has the ability to recognise and block unseen variants of a virus. The following describes how to remove other antivirus programs and install Nod32. Sure you can just use default settings, but for a polished and unobtrusive setup you should perform the steps below.
Get Your License First obtain your Nod32 license keys from your reseller/supplier. They will be in the following format and are case sensitive. User Name: AV-1234567 Password: 1xw2zy3ab4 You will need to remove all previous antivirus software, download the new nod32 and install. Remove Old Antivirus software and reboot If you were using VET you can remove it by going to the start menu , Vet anti-virus, Uninstall or by going to Windows control panel, selecting add/remove software and selecting VET Antivirus for complete removal. If you were using Norton's follow the procedure above but remove all Symantec related software, such as LiveUpdate and LiveReg components which are linked to Norton. IMPORTANT: If you are unable to remove your current Anti Virus Software, ask for help, DO NOT attempt to install NOD. Close all programs and Reboot your PC Download Nod32 from the website. In Version 3 there are two products. Eset Smart Security, which has integrated firewall and the standard Antivirus. You will only require the standard antivirus. Download the appropriate Nod32 Installation file and save it on your desktop: For Home Based Users: ESET NOD32 Antivirus v3.0 - Windows 32-bit Home For Business Users: ESET NOD32 Antivirus v3.0 - Windows 32-bit Business If these links do not work then go to http://www.nod32.com.au/download/commercial.html and click the appropriate version for your system After removing other antivirus software, rebooting and downloading nod32 you can install it. Install Nod32 Double click on the downloaded file. Home = eav_nt32_enu.msi Business = eavbe_nt32_enu.msi -
Click "Next" at the welcome screen -
Accept the License Agreement, click "next" -
Choose "Custom" Install and click "Next". - At the "Install Location" screen click "Next".

Next screen is "Automatic Update" enter the Username and Password we gave you earlier, click "next" -
Next screen is "Internet Connection" - Select "I am unsure if my Internet Connection uses a proxy server. Use the -
same settings as Internet Explorer (Recommended)" click "next" -
Next screen is "Program components" - Click Change. - Select "Perform Program Update if Available" and click "OK". -
Click "next". -
Next Screen "Password Protect Settings" - click "next". -
Next Screen "ThreatSense.Net Early Warning System" - Untick "Enable ThreatSense.net Early warning System" - click "next". -
Next Screen "Detection of potentially unwanted applications" - click "Enable detection of potentially unwanted applications" and click "next". -
Click "Install" and click "Finish" when done. Now Double click on the new Nod32 icon (see below) in your system tray (bottom right hand corner of the screen, near the clock -
Click "Setup" on the left menu and then click "Toggle Advanced Mode". Click "Yes" when prompted. -
Now click "Enter Advanced setup Tree". -
Click "Email Protection" in the left hand menu. -
Set "Append tag messages to received and read mail" to "Never" by selecting from the dropdown box. -
Set "Append tag messages to sent mail" to "Never" by selecting from the dropdown box. -
Now click "Microsoft Outlook" under "Email Protection" in the left hand menu. If you are using a mail and collaboration server you may need to untick "email to Scan" on "Received email" and "Sent email". This is especially true if you use Scalix. -
Further down the left hand menu under "Miscellaneous", click on "Email Client Integration". You should also untick "Integrate into Microsoft Outlook" if you are using Scalix. -
Click "OK" and close the Nod32 window. -
A Reboot is required for virus pattern file updates to apply successfully. Scan you PC After the reboot, double click on the new Nod32 icon. Then click "Computer Scan", then "Standard Scan". This will scan your system. After the scan, close Nod32 and it will minimise to the system tray. Congratulations!!!! Now forget about it until its time to renew (1 or 2 years, whichever you bought). |
